Day 04 - What you ate today
Today is 01 Muharram, that’s means we start new year 1439 Hijriah.
Many moslem people celebrate this day especially javanese. They are
called “suroan”. Me and my family are javanese moslem and we have
traditional culture to cook “bubur suro”. In Surabaya ‘bubur suro’ is
looks like ‘bubur ayam’ but the difference is bubur suro many more
topping than bubur ayam. If the composition of bubur ayam is chicken
chopped, cakwe, soybean/nut, boiled egg, pepper and ‘kerupuk’. But the
topping of bubur suro is beef curry, abon, potato chips, nut, and fried
egg. Both of them are my favorite foods.
Unfortunately, my mom absent cooked 'bubur suro’ today. She has many activities today. Why not me? My mom said 'bubur suro’ is must cooked with women who marriage already hahaha..(I don’t know that’s statement is true or just kidding). I ate bubur suro from given by my neighbours, my grandmother, and my aunt. Yeaaayyyy…
I ate bubur suro for my breakfast and lunch. The taste is delicious until i forgot to take pictures hahaha..I think ‘bubur suro’ not just a food. But it is a culture.
By the way..i like with all traditional cultures, my javanese cultures. Athough I live in big city. Sometimes, I feel if we choose too modern, we will put out traditional cultures step by step. And I hope we all can more care, conserve and concern with Indonesian cultures.
